Award your child a joyful life

Applied Behavior Analysis

ABA is the acronym for Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA recognizes the impact that the environment has in affecting behavior. It is an evidence based treatment that is used to create, maintain, and modify behavior.  ABA relies on quantifiable and measurable goals and their data to assess progress and the effectiveness of treatment.

Psych/ Child Development

An understanding of child development and psychology is integral when working with young children.  It influences the way we understand typical and atypical social, emotional, skill, and cognitive development.  Psychology provides an in depth view of the child’s mind, and insights into behavior drawing on all forms of experience, and consciousness.

DIR Floortime

The DIR Floortime model combines the understanding of functional and emotional development with the assessment of individual biological differences, and the power of relationships.  Understanding the way a child develops, emotionally, socially, and cognitively, recognizing atypical development, and gaps in development, is crucial for appropriate treatment.

The body heals with play, the mind heals with laughter, and the spirit heals with joy.

About

Joy Therapeutics was launched in 2017 by Dvora Phillip MS Psych, BCBA.  Dvora has a master’s degree in psychology, and post-graduate certification as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst).  She is also a practitioner of DIR/Floortime, certified through the Profectum Foundation, as well as a trained and certified Safe and Sound Protocol provider.  She is especially intrigued by the dynamic between the physical and the emotional and the impact of stressors on the developing child.

At Joy Therapeutics we incorporate a unique, nuanced, and child-centered approach.  By combining the science of Applied Behavior Analysis, the knowledge of psychology and child development, and the strategies of DIR/Floortime, we present a tailored model. Together, we can affect appropriate and meaningful changes for the betterment of each child.

Whether your child is struggling socially, behaviorally, emotionally, or with communication, we can help.  Reach out to us to schedule an assessment.

Services

Clinic

Our clinic is a state of the art sensory gym, designed to empower the child with the magic of exploration, experiences, and interactions.

HOME Based

Some children benefit from having therapy within the safety of their own home. Other times, it is beneficial to focus on home dynamics or sibling interactions where they are naturally occurring.

Drama, woodworking, science clubs

We’re periodically organizing groups. Contact us to join or form a group.

Parent training

A child’s relationship with his parents sets the groundwork for how he will feel about himself and navigate future relationships later in life.
It is integral to work on the parent child dynamic and to train parents in the specifics of therapy. This way your child is being supported where and when he needs it most.

Common Challenges

It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.

It works

  • The kind of interaction he had with my brother is something I never saw before. My mother was thrilled! She is also starting to believe that therapy works.

  • All my cousins got together to go bowling one day, and David had so much fun. He was not overwhelmed by all the people (more than 200 all together) and noise at all. This would have been so overwhelming for him just two months ago. That was a very pleasant surprise!

    David’s dad
  • He was home from school today, and I decided that I would continue what you’ve shown me in our sessions together. He became so animated! It was such a moment. Such a feel good moment! That connection carried us through the next few hours of the hectic day.

    Avi’s mom
  • Tonight, for the first time in four years, Ari allowed me to hug him and did not push me away. This is a huge milestone for us. Thank you for all that you’ve given us.

    Ari’s mom
  • He looks like a different child than he did just six weeks ago. He is sitting straighter, interacting with the other children, and, most importantly, he looks happy and confident.
